VIII. Of The Tribe Of Judah.
- Genesis 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah,
nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come;
and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
- 1 Chronicles 5:2 For Judah prevailed above his
brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the
birthright was Joseph’s:)
- Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be
little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall
he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose
goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
- Matthew 2:6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda,
art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of
thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people
Israel.
- Hebrews 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out
of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning
priesthood.
- Revelation 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me,
Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root
of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the
seven seals thereof.
The First Series Describes Christ in his human nature, as
the promised Seed of the Woman, in the grand charter of our
Redemption, Gen. 3:15; and his pedigree, sufferings, and
glory in his successive manifestations of himself until the
end of the world.
The Second Series describes His Character and offices,
human and divine.
