XIII. His Intombment And Embalmment.
- Isaiah 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and
with the rich in his death; because he had done no
violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
- Matthew 26:12 For in that she hath poured this ointment
on my body, she did it for my burial.
- Mark 14:8 She hath done what she could: she is come
aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.
- John 12:7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the
day of my burying hath she kept this.
- John 19:40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound
it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the
Jews is to bury.
- 1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he
rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
The First Series Describes Christ in his human nature, as
the promised Seed of the Woman, in the grand charter of our
Redemption, Gen. 3:15; and his pedigree, sufferings, and
glory in his successive manifestations of himself until the
end of the world.
The Second Series describes His Character and offices,
human and divine.
