X. The Mediator, Intercessor, Or Advocate.
- Job 33:23 If there be a messenger with him, an
interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his
uprightness:
- Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with
the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong;
because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was
numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of
many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
- Isaiah 59:16 And he saw that there was no man, and
wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm
brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it
sustained him.
- Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for
they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment,
and cast lots.
- 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator
between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
- Hebrews 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of
the new testament, that by means of death, for the
redemption of the transgressions that were under the first
testament, they which are called might receive the promise
of eternal inheritance.
- 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I
unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an
advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
- Revelation 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou
art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof:
for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy
blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and
nation;
The First Series Describes Christ in his human nature, as
the promised Seed of the Woman, in the grand charter of our
Redemption, Gen. 3:15; and his pedigree, sufferings, and
glory in his successive manifestations of himself until the
end of the world.
The Second Series describes His Character and offices,
human and divine.
